G.M. Choo has been in the Batik Art for over 35
years. He used to resides in Trengganu, Malaysia - where it's rich in
Malay culture, and is deeply affected by the art of batik. He built
his career upon his interests, introducing the batik paintings to
tourists. He is one of the first Malaysia to promote batik art in
Singapore's Tanglin Handicraft Centre.
The 68 year old put in a lot of effort to his work
daily in his own studio. He loves to paint carp. Recently, he made yet
another innovation. Using wrinkling effect of paper to create a three-dimentional
illusion of stones and mountain scenery, he created a painting that
combined both the Malay and Chinese cultures.
